Dancing Earth, a cultural contemporary dance organization, blended traditional, experimental, and modern dance forms into a program that highlighted the intersection of the visual and performing arts and provided insight into Indigenous contemporary dance. The performance attracted a large audience, exceeding the capacity of the museum’s theater, and as a result, was livestreamed to the overflow crowd. The event included post-performance engagements and a Creative Saturdays studio activity, further enhancing the connection between the exhibition and the performing arts.

To offer a program that connects the visual and performing arts, engaging a diverse audience.
The program was the most well-attended performing arts event at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts to date and necessitated a virtual option to accommodate the overflow audience.
Working collaboratively with the contracted performers created an enriching, exciting, and ultimately unique offering for visitors that had wide appeal across demographic lines. Leverage existing facilities in your community to offer more ambitious performing arts programming that will attract diverse audiences. Consider expanding and upgrading facilities if large performances are a priority.
