Since 2017, Art Bridges has created and supported projects that bring outstanding works of American art out of storage and into communities. About the Position

Art Bridges is looking for a Storytelling and Communications Manager to develop content that supports Art Bridges’ mission and strategic goals. In this role, you will join a top-notch team focused on telling the story of Art Bridges and the impact of our work with partner institutions throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The ideal candidate will be able to conceptualize, write, and edit content for a variety of projects and platforms. They should have a versatile writing skillset, extensive copyediting experience, and be a natural storyteller.

Responsibilities

  • Generate creative story ideas and leads that support Art Bridges’ mission and strategic goals
  • Utilize impact reports, surveys, industry newsletters, social media mentions, and more to uncover story opportunities and develop creative ways to share those stories and make our work transparent
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop a messaging framework for uplifting Art Bridges and building a connective thread between all our print and digital content and various media campaigns
  • Incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders and understand the needs and preferences external audiences to ensure effective and impactful communications
  • Copyedit curatorial texts, newsletters, presentations, and more to ensure all written content is consistent with Art Bridges’ brand identity and style guide, incorporating the highest standards of inclusivity and accessibility for all
  • Develop a wide variety of written content such as scripts for videos, outreach campaigns, social media posts, flyers, brochures, newsletters, and more
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to develop stories that incorporate multimedia rich content such as video, audio, pull quotes, and photography to feature on our digital channels and as an avenue for earned media
  • Collaborate with teams throughout the foundation to develop content for our partners to imagine how they might incorporate artwork loans into their collections through dynamic high-res slideshows, immersive experiences, and narratives about our Partner Loan Network and Art Bridges Collection
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as managing project timelines and deliverables, preparing reports, and maintaining consistent and efficient workflows

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3-5 years of professional writing and storytelling experience with a strong portfolio of work
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field
  • Client-facing communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent listening skills, attention to detail, and a desire to produce high-quality work
  • Ability to maintain a professional and positive outlook
  • Excellent copyediting skills utilizing Chicago Manual of Style; experience editing artwork object labels and curatorial essays is a plus
  • Exceptional writing, research, and critical thinking skills
  • Extremely well-organized with an eye for detail
  • Ability to work independently following a project brief and synthesize complex ideas or concepts
  • A keen eye for design and editorial aesthetics
  • An understanding of traditional and affective narrative frameworks, i.e., how events, emotions, feelings, and the affective dimensions of experience are represented in impactful storytelling

Physical demands: Position requires utilizing a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye/hand coordination, verbal and written conversation with others, and lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.

Work environment: Work will be performed in an office environment full-time. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Some overnight travel may be necessary on occasion.
