About

Students used iPads to fully understand the augmented reality (AR) component of "Ginny Ruffner: Reforestation of the Imagination" in relation to the sculptural work and watercolor paintings in the exhibition. Activities included an artmaking session, where younger students created bottle print flower gardens with 3-D collage elements. Middle school students made mismatched flowers and their own imaginary fruit by combining images, pencil, and watercolor. Older students painted a self-portrait flower in watercolor, highlighting something unique about their personality, after which they built a base for the flower using clay. Many school groups also participated in a scavenger hunt during their tour to match the watercolor flowers to the AR animations. Post-visit kits furthered the educational experience with the museum and exhibition. Kits included a teacher’s guide, an exhibition book, 18 watercolor palettes and 50 sheets of watercolor paper.
