About

In the Portrait Project, two female photographers taught photography skills to Milagro House residents. Milagro House, a program for mothers facing homelessness in Lancaster County, holds educational attainment at its core. The photographers were selected for their ability to connect with the participants. One had a background in meditation and early childhood education, and the other had the personal experience of growing up in a shelter.

Advice Post Project

When planning to work with vulnerable populations, it is important to carefully and intentionally choose program leaders who will best connect with and serve attendees. It is also necessary to be compassionate to the individual needs and comforts of participants. Consider obtaining feedback from attendees to ensure future success.
