About

The in-gallery interpretive activities were designed to allow visitors to explore concepts of world-building through creative play. The exhibition featured three main interactive spaces: Shadowlands, where guests experimented with light, color, and pattern; the Realm of Makers, where they created sculptures from interlocking pieces; and the Cardboard Dimension, where they built structures using cardboard. These spaces encouraged collaboration and creativity, making the exhibition a unique, immersive experience for all ages.

Intended Outcome

To promote imaginative play and innovative engagement with art

Actual Outcome

The museum achieved high levels of visitor engagement with 95% of visitors participating in at least one interpretive activity.

Advice Post Project

Integrating art loans into non-traditional galleries, including educational spaces and studios, proved to be highly effective in engaging visitors with artwork and artists they may be unfamiliar with. Pairing unique installations with engagement techniques, such as artmaking or placing interactive elements in close proximity, led to more visitors engaging with the art and returning to the museum to continue their engagement.
