Blue Grass, Green Skies: American Impressionism and Realism from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art
This exhibition presents a selection of paintings from LACMA’s collection, including works by Mary Cassatt, Childe Hassam, Ernest Lawson, John Henry Twachtman and William Wendt.
This exhibition will be organized in three sections:
1. The Road to Impressionism at Home and Abroad, which will present the development and exchange that nurtured the iconic style on the western side of the Atlantic
2. The East Coast: Urban Life and its Escapes, a selection of paintings that reinforce the uncritical treatment of these dichotomous spaces with a focus on instilling an unsullied quiet to both
3. California Landscapes, a section which will feature how both East- and West Coast artists treated subjects of the west, primarily through capturing its iconic sun-soaked atmosphere.
The exhibition will include approximately 17 paintings and includes works by Mary Cassatt, Childe Hassam, Ernest Lawson, John Henry Twachtman, Guy Rose and William Wendt.
