Sasha Gordon

Tell Me

About

As a queer, biracial woman, Sasha Gordon is hyperconscious of how her body is perceived and othered. Emphasizing each fold of her skin, Gordon creates these fleshy self-portraits to reclaim how she is represented, challenging the intersections of racism and misogyny. To evoke disembodying experiences, Gordon incorporates several unsettling elements like the pearly figure whispering into Gordon’s ear. The overall effect leads to a questioning of what is being said and whose body is real.
