Mel Chin
Revisitation

About

Revisitation distills many of the themes, styles, and conceptual underpinnings that drive the work of Mel Chin into four panels. This large-scale multimedia work allowed the artist to revisit both his own life and his artistic trajectory. Revisitation contemplates themes of memory and ecological degradation by reminiscing on the fate of Port Bolivar, Texas, an area that Chin frequented as a child and that was subsequently struck by oil spills during the 1990s. The work also references Chinese landscape painting, Rajasthani tantric yoga, and the configuration of the water molecule.
