Cannupa Hanska Lugeris an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold, whose interdisciplinary works address the social and political problems afflicting many contemporary Indigenous communities. Corruption—a companion piece to Harm, a sculpture also in the Art Bridges Collection—is a ceramic and mixed-media sculpture portraying the decapitated head of a monstrous alien creature. With glittering black teeth, a listless tongue, multicolored hair made of felt and yarn, vacant eyes, and a pockmarked face, the vanquished foe retains a strange and threatening aura despite its lifelessness.
