Raven Halfmoon

CADDOxCHIC

Raven Halfmoon (Caddo) produced CADDOxCHIC as part of a residency at Archie Bray Foundation in Montana that allowed her to develop ceramics on a large scale. The work presents the challenge facing Halfmoon, an artist culturally informed by community art forms who is immersed in a consumerist society obsessed with luxury branding. CADDOxCHIC literally multiplies this conundrum through its graffiti-like rendering of Chanel’s logo on the sculpture, which has a matte surface recalling Caddo pottery.
