All of us at Art Bridges are thinking about our partners and the challenges you’re facing regarding the coronavirus/Covid-19. We’re continuing to monitor and local and regional health authorities, and we urge you to do the same. Above all, please stay as safe and healthy as possible.

We will continue to support you and your decisions as you adjust schedules or postpone events in light of the current situation. Art Bridges is up and running and operating as usual, and we’ll let you know if that changes. Now more than ever, access to American art can play an important and unifying role as our communities face these challenges together. In the meanwhile, feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Sharing American Art

All our partnerships begin with an Exhibition Project. We believe this is the best way to share American art more broadly across the country.

Exhibition Projects are designed to facilitate the sharing of high quality collections of American art with people across America. Exhibitions may range in size from one object to many, and they are always designed to travel to multiple locations.

Our Exhibition Projects fall into at least one of the following categories:

  • Art Bridges Collection projects, which activate one or more objects from the Art Bridges Collection, either within a permanent collection, or as a single-object exhibition.
  • Collaborative projects, where two or more partners work together to share the collections of at least one partner.
  • Collection exhibitions, where a single institution shares their collection as a traveling exhibition.
  • Experimental collection-sharing projects, where YOU bring us YOUR ideas!

Who can apply?

If you are organizing an exhibition – or interested in doing so, but need a partner – let’s talk. Many museums have the potential for sharing their collections through Art Bridges projects. For this work, Art Bridges seeks institutions that are:

  • Eager to work collaboratively with other institutions
  • Eager to embrace Art Bridges as a partner
  • Committed to innovation, experimentation, and multidisciplinary approaches

If you are an institution looking for high quality, engaging exhibitions, and need a partner – let’s talk. Art Bridges is committed to making art accessible to all, especially where there is currently less access to great works of art and deep, meaningful engagement with those works. To that end, Art Bridges seeks partner venues that are:

  • Rural or regional venues with acceptable facility reports
  • Operating on annual budgets under $5 million
  • Eager to engage their community in a topic relevant to them and supported by exhibition content
  • Committed to innovation, experimentation, and multidisciplinary approaches

Eligible Costs

Art Bridges Exhibition Projects provide financial support for a percentage of the following types of expenses:

  • Exhibition fees.
  • Direct exhibition costs (in-gallery didactics, fabrication, installation, interpretation, furniture, conservation, etc.).
  • Shared costs per venue (transportation, insurance, packing, crating, storage).

How do I apply?

Every Art Bridges Project begins with a conversation. Use the form below to get that conversation started.
