Bruce Davidson: Los Angeles and New York, 1959–2009
This grouping features American photographer Bruce Davidson’s classic and lesser-seen images of Los Angeles and New York from LACMA’s collection. Spanning the artist’s sixty-year career, the selection includes pictures of New York during the Civil Rights era and his 2009 series The Nature of Los Angeles, sponsored by LACMA’s Photographic Arts Council. Davidson’s depictions of American life create contrasts and reveal connections across time and place.

The foundation encourages borrowing museums to apply for accompanying Learning & Engagement funding to support the activation and interpretation of Collection Loan Partnership artworks. Learning & Engagement funding supports multidisciplinary programming, interpretive materials, and community outreach.
