Art Bridges is the vision of philanthropist and arts patron Alice Walton. The mission of Art Bridges is to expand access to American art in all regions across the United States. Since 2017, Art Bridges has been creating and supporting programs that bring outstanding works of American art out of storage and into communities. Art Bridges partners with a growing network of nearly 170 museums of all sizes and locations to provide financial and strategic support for exhibition development, loans from the Art Bridges collection, and programs designed to educate, inspire, and deepen engagement with local audiences. The Art Bridges Collection features American masterworks of early American to present day and encompasses painting, sculpture, and photography.

Position Summary:

The Marketing & Communications and Social Media departments seek one intern for the spring 2022 semester (January 24, 2022-April 15, 2022). The intern will assist in the development and promotion of Art Bridges.

Duties will include:

  • Implementing press strategies
  • Creating and updating press reports and lists
  • Creating press reports
  • Being in contact with the press
  • Conducting social media research projects
  • Assisting with social media copywriting and Instagram Story designs
  • Doing basic administrative work

Preferred candidates will be passionate about expanding access to art with skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communications, writing, and building interpersonal relationships. The intern should possess intellectual curiosity, flexibility, and openness to give and receive feedback. They will be interested in American art, community engagement, social justice, and DEAI. Applicants must be prepared for a hands on experience. The intern will have the ability to work with diverse partners, listen, ask questions, adapt, and collaborate.

This 12-week internship will commence on or about January 24, 2022 and will end April 15, 2022. The intern will work 10-15 hours per week as determined with supervisor and will be paid hourly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
  •  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required, and familiarity with library and Web-based search tools is strongly preferred
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Detail-orientated
  • A background check is required
  • Must maintain the confidentiality of all non-public information
  • Possible course credit can be negotiated with University departmental supervisor

Areas of Support:

The Marketing & Communications and Social Media Intern will actively participate and perform duties in some of the following functional areas:

  • Assist with Marketing & Communications
  • Learn how to use Cision media database to create local and national print/online/broadcast press lists
  • Develop research skills by observing how we monitoring press coverage and create press reports
  • Learn how we write press materials to promote Art Bridges
  • Assist our teams at virtual events
  • Attend our department meetings/brainstorming sessions
  • Support the creation of social media copy for Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin
  • Execute social media research projects
  • Provide design assistance, as needed

Internship Compensation:

$14/hr and/or course credit

When you are required to report to the office, you will be eligible for mileage reimbursement from your residence to the office, payable at the federal mileage reimbursement rate.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Physical Demands: In the work environment described herein, the position requires work at a desk and utilizing a computer for prolonged periods of time, and excellent eye/hand coordination. Visual acuity to review detailed drawings and written materials are required for this job.
  • Work Environment: Work will either be in person in Bentonville, remote, or a combination.
  • Computer Equipment: A laptop will be provided.

Vaccination Policy:

In accordance with our duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of known hazards, and to do our part in safeguarding the health of our co-workers and their families as well as the community at large from this infectious disease that will be reduced by vaccination, we are requiring all Art Bridges staff and INTERNS to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their start date as a condition of employment. According to the CDC, “fully vaccinated” means it has been two weeks since a person received the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna or the single dose of Johnson & Johnson.

In accordance with all federal, state and local rules and regulations, Art Bridges recognizes that there may be certain circumstances exempting an employee from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Employees in need of an exemption from this policy due to a disability, advice of a medical provider, or religious beliefs inconsistent with vaccination, must contact the HR group at ASC to initiate the interactive review process within the deadlines expressed in this policy.
