Art Bridges is the vision of philanthropist and arts patron Alice Walton. The mission of Art Bridges is to expand access to American art in all regions across the United States. Since 2017, Art Bridges has been creating and supporting programs that bring outstanding works of American art out of storage and into communities. Art Bridges partners with a growing network of nearly 170 museums of all sizes and locations to provide financial and strategic support for exhibition development, loans from the Art Bridges collection, and programs designed to educate, inspire, and deepen engagement with local audiences. The Art Bridges Collection represents an expanding vision of American art from the 19th century to present day and encompasses multiple media and voices.
The Collection Loans and Exhibitions department seeks one summer intern for 10 weeks from June 1 to August 5, 2022. The intern will assist the Registrars with the care and management of the Art Bridges collection and works within Art Bridges’ care.
This internship will provide experiential learning that aligns with the knowledge and theories taught to students in the classroom, with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Learning will be guided and evaluated by experienced professionals. This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of artwork movement and care, professional communication methods, registration methods, and data archiving best practices.
Activities and Learning Experiences will include:
- Assist the Collections team with the documentation of the Art Bridges Collection
- Data entry in The Museum System
- Assist with logistics and records regarding collections loans
- Assist with logistics and activation of the Art Bridges Collection Loan program pilot phase
- Provide support for Art Bridges managed traveling exhibitions
- Learn and assist with Rights and Reproductions processes
- Participate in meetings as requested
- Creating lists, reports, and external documents as needed
- Basic administrative work
Preferred candidates will be passionate about expanding access to art with skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communications, writing, and building interpersonal relationships. The intern should possess intellectual curiosity, flexibility, and openness to give and receive feedback. They will be interested in American art, community engagement, social justice, and diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI). Applicants must be prepared for a hands-on learning experience. The intern will have the opportunity to work with diverse partners, listen, ask questions, adapt, and collaborate.
This 10-week internship will commence on June 1, 2022 and will end August 5, 2022. The intern will work 35 hours per week as determined by the supervisor and will be paid hourly.

Minimum Attributes of an Ideal Candidate:
- Hold a GPA of 3.0 or above
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Good sense of humor
- Must be a people-person
- Dependable and punctual
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required, and familiarity with research and Web-based search tools is strongly preferred
- Previous experience and/or education in registration practices and art care preferred
Areas of Support and Learning:
The Registration intern will actively participate and gain experiential learning by performing duties in some of the following functional areas:
- Partner services and support
- Software system maintenance
- Museum facility reports completion and review
- Researching and confirming Art Bridges rights and reproductions
- Assist with Art Bridges collections, collection loans, and exhibitions projects
- Updating collections documentation within databases and tracking documents.
- Meeting attendance
- Attending our All Staff and department meetings/brainstorming sessions
- Attend project meetings
- Attend meetings with partners
- Participate in educational activities such as: speaker series, lunch and learns, and book club, etc.
- Participate in training sessions for Sketch-Up, Excel, Photoshop, Wrike, & TMS
- Other duties as assigned
$14/hr and/or course credit

- Physical Demands: In the work environment described herein, the position requires work at a desk and utilizing a computer for prolonged periods of time, and excellent eye/hand coordination. Visual acuity to review detailed drawings and written materials are required for this job.
- Work Environment: Work will be in-person in Bentonville, AR
- Computer Equipment: A laptop will be provided, if needed.
- Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background and reference check.

- Credits: Possible course credit can be negotiated with university departmental supervisor
While this internship provides an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and ability, it does not create any expressed or implied guarantee of future employment with Art Bridges.
All interns will be considered temporary employees and responsible for all state and federal withholdings from all earnings and payments. Interns will be ineligible for health & retirement benefits, but will be covered under workers compensation insurance during the internship duration and while performing activities for Art Bridges.

According to the CDC, “fully vaccinated” means it has been two weeks since a person received the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna or the single dose of Johnson & Johnson.
In accordance with all federal, state and local rules and regulations, Art Bridges recognizes that there may be certain circumstances exempting an employee from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Interns in need of an exemption from this policy due to a disability, advice of a medical provider, or religious beliefs inconsistent with vaccination, must contact the HR group at AWE to initiate the interactive review process within the deadlines expressed in this policy.
