Position Title: Intern, Collection Loans and Exhibitions (Academic Year | fall 2022 – spring 2023)

Art Bridges is the vision of philanthropist and arts patron Alice Walton. The mission of Art Bridges is to expand access to American art in all regions across the United States. Since 2017, Art Bridges has been creating and supporting programs that bring outstanding works of American art out of storage and into communities. Art Bridges partners with a growing network of nearly 170 museums of all sizes and locations to provide financial and strategic support for exhibition development, loans from the Art Bridges collection, and programs designed to educate, inspire, and deepen engagement with local audiences. The Art Bridges Collection represents an expanding vision of American art from the 19th century to present day and encompasses multiple media and voices.
The Collection Loans and Exhibitions department seeks one intern for the 2022-2023 academic year. The internship will span fall 2022 and spring 2023 semesters. The intern will assist this department in the development of the Collection Loan Program and by supporting our traveling exhibition projects.
This internship will provide experiential learning that aligns with the knowledge and theories taught to students in the classroom, with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Learning will be guided and evaluated by experienced professionals. This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of artwork movement and presentation, professional communication methods, visualization techniques, and data archiving best practices.
Activities and Learning Experiences will include:
- Entering and auditing data in software systems
- Assisting our team with uploading and tagging partner assets in our digital asset management system (Media Valet)
- Creating lists, reports, and external documents as needed
- Researching potential venues and artwork placement opportunities
- Identifying and executing a capstone project
- Participating in meetings as requested
- Administrative support
Preferred candidates will be passionate about expanding access to art with skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communications, writing, and building interpersonal relationships. The intern should possess intellectual curiosity, flexibility, and openness to give and receive feedback. They will be interested in American art, community engagement, social justice, and diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI). Applicants must be prepared for a hands-on learning experience. The intern will have the opportunity to work with diverse partners, listen, ask questions, adapt, and collaborate.
This 24-week internship will take place during fall 2022 from Aug 29-Nov 18, 2022 and resume for spring 2023 from Jan 23-Apr 14, 2023. The intern will work 10-15 hours per week as determined by the supervisor and will be paid hourly.

Minimum Attributes of an Ideal Candidate:
- Hold a GPA of 3.0 or above
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Good sense of humor
- Active listening and communication skills – Excited to ask questions and takes dilligent notes
- Must be a people-person
- Prioritizes building relationships, by following through with commitments in a dependable and punctual manner.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required, and familiarity with research and Web-based search tools is strongly preferred
Areas of Support and Learning:
The Collection Loans and Exhibitions intern will actively participate and gain experiential learning by performing duties in some of the following functional areas:
- Partner services and support
- Software system maintenance
- Creating copy for newsletter or website
- Researching and confirming Art Bridges crediting on funded projects
- Meeting attendance
- Attending our All Staff and department meetings/brainstorming sessions
- Attend project meetings
- Attend meetings with partners
- Participate in educational activities such as speaker series, lunch and learns, and book club, etc
- Participate in training sessions for Sketch-Up, Excel, Photoshop, & Wrike
- Other duties as assigned
$14/hr and/or course credit

- Physical Demands: In the work environment described herein, the position requires work at a desk and utilizing a computer for prolonged periods of time, and excellent eye/hand coordination. Visual acuity to review detailed drawings and written materials is required for this job.
- Work Environment: Work will be in-person in Bentonville, AR
- Computer Equipment: A laptop will be provided, if needed.
- Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background and reference check.
- Confidentiality: Must maintain the confidentiality of all non-public information
- Credits: Possible course credit can be negotiated with university departmental supervisor

All interns will be considered temporary employees and responsible for all state and federal withholdings from all earnings and payments. Interns will be ineligible for health & retirement benefits, but will be covered under workers compensation insurance during the internship duration and while performing activities for Art Bridges.

As of March 1, 2022, to be considered “fully vaccinated” by our organizations, you must receive a booster. If you are not eligible by this deadline, you must be boosted when eligible. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a person is considered “boosted” and up to date the same day as receiving their booster dose. Documentation of your booster will be required.
In accordance with all federal, state and local rules and regulations, Art Bridges recognizes that there may be certain circumstances exempting an employee from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and associated booster vaccinations. Interns in need of an exemption from this policy due to a disability, advice of a medical provider, or religious beliefs inconsistent with vaccination, must contact the HR group at AWE to initiate the interactive review process within the deadlines expressed in this policy.
